Firstly, thank you all so very much for your lovely comments on my last post - you are all wonderful and I really mean that :)
I managed to put aside the Japanese Flowers for long enough to complete my new Victoria Frills Spring Scarf.
I managed to put aside the Japanese Flowers for long enough to complete my new Victoria Frills Spring Scarf.
It is a mid weight scarf, warm but not too heavy.
The Pattern/Tutorial will follow in a few days and will not only be my first written down pattern after 25 years of crocheting but also the first in a series of 'crochet patterns for people that don't like patterns' This aims to be a series where you don't have to be exact for most of the pattern so it doesn't matter if you aren't great at counting your stitches etc.
Now a progress update on my Japanese Flowers. I am still loving making these.
I couldn't photograph them all this time as I now have about 80 flowers.
I can't wait until I have 110 as I know then I should be half way through. I would have completed more but I ran out of yarn and have also had to put some work in on a baby ripple blanket that I am making for my brother and his other half as their baby is expected at the beginning of May and I don't want to get caught out :)
Also I had a go at making some crochet covered clothes hangers as I thought they would be a good thing to take along to the craft fair that I have signed myself up for in June this year (my first one!)
Wow - they were so quick and easy to make and look really really good when finished. You can see my Cath Kidstonesque one here and I will have more to show you soon once I have made a few flowers to add to ones I've done already.

What lovely spring colours it's amazing
ReplyDeleteGorgeous scarf. I do love your Japanese flowers. I've been sooo good resisting the temptation as I have a couple of must do projects. So many people doing them and showing them off, not too sure how long I can resist ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your scarf and your many, many flowers!!! Amazing!!
ReplyDeleteHappy spring!
Absolutely gorgeous crochet work. The scarf is so pretty! And I love the colors you have chosen for the Japanese flowers. I must give this a go. I've been crocheting off and on for about 25 years, but haven't picked it up quite as well as you obviously have. I still have a problem reading lengthy patterns. A good friend is due in May so I will likely do a granny stripe again. I haven't tried a ripple yet either. One day, along with crocheted covers for the hangers. Adorable! have a great week. Tammy

ReplyDeleteThe coathanger cover is amazing, might have to try that one myself, would make a very ideal Xmas gift for family members who like something handmade.
I really need to have a go at the flowers and make something, not enough hours in the day LOL
You are such an amzing talent! I never get tired of drinking in your work - blog candy indeed xxx
ReplyDeleteIt might only just be turning spring but it is a full summer's day here on your blog! What a fabulous scarf. That will be so fun to wear. It would have been good here in Holland over the weekend. There was sun and you felt like you wanted spring clothes on but it is just a little too cold.
ReplyDeleteYour Japanese flowers are so pretty all stacked up like that. Do you not attach them together as you make them? I wonder as that is what I have been doing although I get messed up sometimes on my blanket and have to attach a side here and there that I missed. I am plugging away and hoping that I am doing it all correctly.
Hugs from Holland ~
Heidi
